On June 12, 2012 solemn event took place on Memorial of Memory and Sorrow in Bendery City devoted to inauguration of the monument to Russian political and military leader Lieutenant General Alexander Ivanovich Lebed.

President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk, Head of the Government of the PMR Petr Stepanov, Ministers, heads of governmental agencies, Head of the Supreme Council and MPs, leadership of Bendery City Administration and citizens of the Republic took part in the event. Due to the memorable day brother of Aleksander Lebed, Aleksei Lebed, Counselor-Envoy of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova Vitaly Tryapitsyn and Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian MFA Sergei Gubarev visited Pridnestrovie.

“We are paying homage to the general and military leader owing to him the stop of bloodshed in Pridnestrovie. We are paying homage to his service, his deeds, his courage. We are paying homage to the Russian Federation which conducts peacekeeping operation in Pridnestrovie, defends and secures lives of Pridnestrovians. Eternal glory to Aleksander Lebed and gratitude to all Russian soldiers!”, – said Yevgeny Shevchuk in his address.
