Today, on the instruction of the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk, coordination meeting of heads of expert groups from Pridnestrovie took place. The meeting was focused on the forthcoming OSCE high-level conference on developing confidence-building measures in the Pridnestrovian conflict settlement process where current issues will be considered, guidelines will be formulated and results of work of expert groups from Pridnestrovie and Moldova will be voiced.
As it was reported before, conference will be held in Germany on June 20. Representatives of the 5+2 format – Pridnestrovie, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE, as well as observers in the negotiation process – will be involved in its work. Similar reporting conferences were already held in previous years in Garmisch and Bad Reichenhall. Last reporting conference saw the signature of procedural rules of expert groups. “This document is serious enough, it had been long elaborated and eventually was signed. Today its provisions serve as guidance in our work,” Nina Shtanski told.
In the course of the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR pointed out that work of expert groups has intensified. “After resumption of negotiations due to our common efforts, expert groups' meetings are held in an active and dynamic way.
We have forwarded quite many proposals. We display constructive approach and don't make ultimatums. We show our openness for a compromise,” Nina Shtanski told. In her words, the main task to be solved in Germany is “to make so that our positions would be heard”.
Head of foreign political office of the PMR paid attention of the participants of the conference to existing “discrepancy between real state of affairs in relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie and the way such information is presented in the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan mass media”. Therefore, OSCE reporting conference should become additional ground for the heads of expert groups from Pridnestrovie “to clarify and reason position of Pridnestrovie, which will eventually help achieve such solutions in socio-economic sphere that will contribute to the betterment of well-being of the citizens and protection of their rights”.
Let us recall, activity of expert groups has been stepped up since the beginning of current year. There are already a number of practical decisions in the field of railway transport and customs procedures. Expert groups are working in the sphere of education, healthcare, motor transport, telecommunications and regulatory support of citizens.
This work is fulfilled as part of “small steps tactics” declared by the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk.
