Today, the Supreme Soviet of the PMR has considered in the first reading the draft Law on Goals and Principles of the Negotiation Process with the Republic of Moldova. The document was submitted to the Parliament by the President of the Republic in the regime of legislative necessity in July this year. Following the discussion which took place at today's plenary session, the draft Law was adopted by the Supreme Soviet in the first reading.

The corresponding Resolution of the Parliament prescribes also to proceed work on the document “based on the remarks and proposals made” for considering it in the second reading.

We recall that draft Law submitted by the President defines competence of government authorities for carrying out negotiation process with Moldova, and clarifies basic terms and definitions. The document specifies that negotiation process is aimed at final and fair normalisation of relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie and carried out on the basis of equal status of the sides, mutual respect for sovereignty and independence. The goals of negotiations include implementation of the will of the Pridnestrovien people expressed during nation-wide referendums, and creating conditions for the final international recognition of state independence of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic.
