The President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Moldova Zdenek Krejci. The Czech diplomat visited Pridnestrovie before, but met with the new President of the Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky for the first time. Welcoming the guest, the President noted that “it is the honour to welcome the Ambassador on the Pridnestrovian land”.
The conversation at the meeting touched issues of bilateral relations of Pridnestrovie and the Czech Republic. The PMR’s President stressed that the Pridnestrovian side is interested in intensifying political, humanitarian and business cooperation with foreign partners and, in particular, with the Czech Republic. Some experience of cooperation between the two countries already exists in the field of education – there are contacts between T.G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University and Charles University in Prague. This refers to the PostDemo project, when the Czech side organized a series of workshops for the staff of the Pridnestrovian State University in 2015.
During the dialogue the sides exchanged views on some aspects of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. Zdenek Krejci noted that “the German OSCE Chairmanship devoted major efforts in its time, but, unfortunately, it did not produce tangible results”. The Czech Ambassador expressed hope that “activities of the Austrian colleagues, chairing the OSCE today, will be more effective”. Speaking about the recent changes in senior management of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Zdenek Krejci emphasized that the international community hopes for positive developments in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations and noted that “for the EU it is important that the region is stable, people live calmly here, economy is developing systematically”.
“Our task is to create necessary conditions to make life easier for the citizens of Pridnestrovie and of the Republic of Moldova. People should not be held hostages to political decisions” – noted the Head of the Pridnestrovian state Vadim Krasnoselsky.
