Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev gave an interview to the Dutch journalist Floris Akkerman.

During the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev spoke in detail about the goals, objectives and key directions of the foreign policy of the PMR, focusing on various aspects of Pridnestrovian relations with the Russian Federation and the European Union.

The head of the PMR’s MFA paid special attention to the current situation in the negotiation process with the Republic of Moldova, detailing the whole complex of unsolved problematic issues existing in the relations of the parties at the present stage. In this context, the diplomat particularly stressed the destructive nature of the intentions of Moldova and Ukraine to establish joint customs and border control on the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border.

"To date, there are a number of problems that create conditions for worsening of people's lives. I believe that settlement of these issues and building neighborly relations with the Republic of Moldova is the best way to stabilize this regional space and continue to conduct a dialogue in a constructive, exclusively diplomatic manner without applying any measures of pressure" said the foreign minister.

Floris Akkerman is an independent Dutch journalist who collaborates with several major national media in the Netherlands. The author is planning to prepare a series of articles devoted to Pridnestrovie for the Dutch daily newspaper “Reformatorisch Dagblad” and the data portal “De Correspondent”.
