In furtherance of agreements reached in Odessa by President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk and Prime-Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat, on January 31 and February 2, 2012, meetings of experts of Pridnestrovie and Moldova took place. The specialists discussed issues connected with resumption of a full-scale railway link across Pridnestrovie. In particular, they considered the possibility of adjustment of the currently existing procedures of customs clearance of cargoes.

In the course of the dialogue on February 2, the Moldovan side was given a draft paper containing compromising and mutually beneficial, in opinion of the Pridnestrovien experts, variant of the solution of existing problems in this sphere. The package of proposals is based on the mechanism of cooperation and takes into account economic interests of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

Tiraspol believes that the given draft paper creates ground for further progress of the sides in reaching a compromise and is a visible proof of readiness of the Pridnestrovien side to work actively in order to find mutually acceptable solutions of concrete socio-economic problems for economy and citizens of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR reckons upon careful attention of the Moldovan side to the proposed best practices which can become an effective base for the resumption of a full-scale railway communication. In terms of existing socio-economic difficulties on both sides of the Dniester this approach would promote a more dynamic economic development and improvement of welfare of citizens.
