A meeting of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev with a delegation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova headed by Ambassador Signe Burgstaller was held at the Foreign Ministry.
The interlocutors discussed a number of topical issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular in socio-humanitarian and educational spheres. Signe Burgstaller told about the readiness of Sweden to provide financial support to a number of projects implemented in Pridnestrovie by organizations of the UN system in the field of protection of the rights of people with disabilities, assistance to women in crisis situations, as well as the provision of services to persons living with HIV/AIDS.
During the meeting Vitaly Ignatiev told about the current situation in the relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The head of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR placed special emphasis on low dynamic of interaction between the parties, which continues despite the calls and recommendations of the mediators and observers in the negotiation process in the 5+2 format, visited Kishinev and Tiraspol on 5-6 April this year. The diplomat reminded that on the negotiation table there is a series of “balanced and viable” proposals of the Pridnestrovian side in such sensitive areas as road transport, freight railway communication, regulatory and document support of citizens, but it is impossible to start the work on them due to “the RM’s unreadiness to substantively negotiate with Pridnestrovian colleagues”.
At the end of the meeting the sides agreed to maintain direct contacts on matters of mutual interest.
