Nina Shtanski and Grigory Karasin Answered Questions of Journalists Concerning Problems of Freedom of Movement of Pridnestrovian Citizens

After the meeting of the leadership of the PMR's MFA with the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski and State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin answered the questions of the journalists.

Commenting on the draft law of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova concerning fines for citizens of Pridnestrovie, Nina Shtanski pointed out that this issue is to be discussed during the 5+2 negotiations. “This issue directly affects the issue of freedom of movement of our citizens. Changes which are planned to be introduced in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova can seriously damage our dialogue in the negotiations process and can affect every citizen crossing the border. We can't watch these changes without concern”, – Minister said.

In his turn Grigory Karasin commented on the situation in the Security Zone. According to him, current situation in the negotiations process alarms Russian side. There are concerns, first of all, due to the creation of seven new posts of migration control established by the Moldova's authorities. It raises many questions which need to be addressed. “Uncertainty always plays into hands of those who wishes to halt contacts and strengthening confidence building measures”, – he said. Russian representative also expressed his hope that the Joint Control Commission will resume its full-scale work because the JCC is one of the guarantors of stability for Pridnestrovie. “We will assist it every possible way”, – he pointed out.
