PMR President Yevgeny Shevchuk received a member of the German Bundestag. Fritz Felgentreu arrived in Pridnestrovie with a study visit. The main goal is to learn firsthand about the country, the political system, the situation in the economy and the social sphere. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Moldova Ulrike Maria Knotz and Director of the German-Moldovan Forum Julia Moser, from the Pridnestrovian side - acting Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.
During the dialogue with the German parliamentarian Yevgeny Shevchuk expressed his gratitude for the attention shown to Pridnestrovie. The president also noted the high level of constructive cooperation established with the German Embassy to the RM. “In our view, it allows to create conditions to form an objective picture of the processes taking place both inside the country and around it,” said Yevgeny Shevchuk. The president positively appreciated the role of the German OSCE Chairmanship in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Yevgeny Shevchuk said that approaches of Pridnestrovie and Germany are the same in principle, as the Pridnestrovian side also aims to achieve concrete practical results at the negotiation table that can improve people's lives.
Fritz Felgentreu said in his turn that it was “interesting to visit Pridnestrovie and personally interact with the leadership and public figures of the republic”.
During the meeting the attention was paid to the current socio-economic situation in Pridnestrovie, as well as to the difficulties faced by the citizens. The interlocutors discussed issues related to the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
The dialogue also discussed cooperation between the two countries on a wide range of areas in the field of education, culture and ecology.
