On August 7, at 23 p.m., in Tiraspol, a memorial event dedicated to the tragic events in South Ossetia in August 2008 began outside Official Mission (Embassy) of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic. Three years ago in this sorrowful hour the Georgian troops fired with heavy artillery at South Ossetia's capital Tskhinval and the surrounding villages launching realization of inhumane forceful scenario. Aggressor's goals were not only elimination of South Ossetia's statehood – the Tbilisi regime intended to carry out genocide of the civilians.
Late in the evening of August 2011 commemorating events were simultaneously held in the capital of South Ossetia – the city of Tskhinval, in Moscow, Sukhum, Vladikavkaz and many other cities.
Participating in the memorial event in Tiraspol were Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaliy Ignatiev, head of the Official Mission of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie Sergey Surago, Authorized Representative of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie Alexander Vataman, members of diplomatic staff of Pridnestrovie, citizens of Tiraspol and journalists.
In the course of the meeting-requiem, Vitaliy Ignatiev expressed sincere condolences to the Head of the Mission of the RSO in the PMR and in his person to all people of South Ossetia, to relatives and friends of the fallen defenders and civilians of the Republic, and also wished peace, well-being and success on the way towards free development of the state.
The participants laid flowers at the Memorial of Glory in Tiraspol, honored the memory of the fallen by the minute of silence and lit commemorative candles.
