On January 24, 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR hosted the meeting of acting deputy Foreign Minister Vitaliy Ignatiev with Doctor of Philosophy of the School of Law and Government of Dublin University Donnacha O'Beachain. The scientist arrived in Pridnestrovie in the framework of a research project on request of the Irish government devoted to comprehensive evaluation of the role of the EU and the OSCE in protracted conflicts of the post-Soviet period. Participating in the meeting were also Political Adviser of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Juhan Kakh and research assistant of Dublin University Karolina Stefanczak.
Irish researcher was interested in a wide range of issues regarding internal policy processes in Pridnestrovie, as well as in the way the Pridnestrovien leadership sees perspectives of cooperation on the international stage. In the course of the conversation, Doctor O Beachain marked that electoral campaign for PMR's presidential elections attracted attention of international community, experts and mass media to the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic.
Responding to the question of the scholar about changes in the political life of the state, deputy Foreign Minister noted that serious tasks to improve socio-economic situation stand before leadership of the Republic, inter alia, with attraction of international possibilities.
In the course of the meeting, interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation of Pridnestrovie with friendly Caucasus republics. The Pridnestrovien diplomat provided exhaustive information about various aspects of international cooperation of republics on the bilateral basis and in the framework of interstate Community for Democracy and Peoples' Rights.
As regards the question of the Irish researcher on actions taken by PMR's leadership to disseminate information about Pridnestrovie in the European space, Vitaly Ignatiev marked that formation of an objective positive image of the Republic is one of the priority tasks of the foreign policy office. The diplomat also highlighted a number of concrete measures aimed at implementation of the given task, mentioning great importance of interdepartmental coordination in this area.
Vitaly Ignatiev handed foreign researches information and reference materials in English dedicated to historical and international-legal basis of the Pridnestrovien statehood, and also presented printed publications of the PMR's MFA.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister invited scientists to cooperate in information and scientific-research spheres.
