Festivities Dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the Peacekeeping Operation on the Dniester Were Discussed at the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry

Today, a plan of jubilee festivities dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Russia's peacekeeping operation on the Dniester was discussed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR. This topic was in the focus of the meeting of Nina Shtanski, Head of foreign political office, with Chief of Media Relations Department of Operative Group of Russian Forces (OGRV) in Pridnestrovie Viktor Nikandrov. Participating in the meeting was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, Chief of Public Communications Department of the Pridnestrovian MFA Igor Shornikov and OGRV officers.



According to Nina Shtanski, presence of Russian peacekeepers on the Dniester is the most significant factor of peace, security and stability for Pridnestrovie. In this connection, foreign political office of Pridnestrovie expects that festivities dedicated to this anniversary will be covered by media to the fullest extent possible.



In the course of the meeting, interlocutors discussed main festivities dedicated to the 20th anniversary of introduction of Russia's peacekeeping forces. In particular, on July 26, solemn meeting with participation of the leadership of the Republic and the city, as well as guests of Pridnestrovie will take place in Bendery. On July 28, Russia Hotel will host International Scientific-Research Conference “Peacekeeping Operation on the Dniester in the Context of Geopolitical Challenges of Modernity” organized by the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies. On July 29 ceremony of solemn opening of the monument dedicated to the 20th anniversary of introduction of peacekeeping forces will take place.


Public and expert events designed to reflect value of peace and stability on the Dniester will take place until the end of current year. In the opinion of the Head of the PMR's foreign political office, 2012 should be designated as a year of a Russian peacekeeper in Pridnestrovie.
