Today, Landshut (Germany) hosted the meeting of the facilitators of the Conference on Confidence Building Measures with heads of delegations from Pridnestrovian and Moldovan sides. State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Germany Michael Link, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Leonid Kozhara, the President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk and the Prime Minister of Moldova Yuriy Lyanke discussed a wide range of issues to normalize relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The meeting was also attended by political representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov.
The President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk welcomed the initiative of the German side on implementation of several socio-economic projects in Pridnestrovie.
During the meeting, Pridnestrovian and Moldovan sides exchanged their views. The President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk emphasized that the Joint Control Commission has no alternative, and any issue within the peacekeeping operation are subject to its exclusive competence. Moreover, Pridnestrovian side stated that no other format or monitoring groups in the Security Zone will be supported by Pridnestrovie. Yevgeny Shevchuk urged the Moldovan side to follow strictly the documents regulating the interaction in the Security Zone.
The meeting negotiated also issues concerning trade co-operation. The President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk said, “First of all, all restrictions are to be removed in order to unlock foreign trade of the PMR. Otherwise new economic and trade initiatives will become declarations,” Yevgeny Shevchuk outlined.
