09/22/10

On September 20, 2010, in Tskhinvali a delegation from the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic headed by Chairperson of the Supreme Soviet Anatoly Kaminsky, together with the leadership of South Ossetia, has laid a capsule in the foundation of the future building of the PMR's Embassy in the Republic of South Ossetia.

In his speech before the audience, the head of the Transdniestrian parliament said that Transdniestria and South Ossetia begin a new stage in the development of interstate cooperation which assumes a more active interaction along all existing issues, and it's quite natural that a key role in the ongoing processes is assigned to the foreign policy departments which are to coordinate the work of official representation offices.

South Ossetian Foreign Minister Marat Dzhioev in his speech stressed a traditionally friendly atmosphere in the relations between the two states which is based on the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia, signed in Tskhinvali, on 12 October, 1994, and also Supplementary Protocol to this Treaty from 16 June, 2009. This document having gone through ratification procedure in the parliaments of South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie is now the basis for promoting contacts of the two states in all spheres.

PMR's Foreign Minister Vladimir Yastrebchak expressed his appreciation to the leadership of South Ossetia for operative resolution of issues connected with the location of the Embassy of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic in the Republic of South Ossetia. He emphasized that the relations between the two states are not subjected to political conjuncture but are built rather on mutual respect of their brotherly people.

A handful of Transdniestrian soil was put in the capsule, as well as the message from the PMR's leadership for the generations yet unborn, and blessing of the Bishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary.

The ceremony of laying the capsule was also attended by the head of the city of Tskhinval, G. Khugaev.

On the instructions of the PMR's President, a number of representatives of the South Ossetia's leadership, including the Republic's Foreign Minister M. Dzhioev, were awarded jubilee medals “20th Anniversary of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic”.
