The IV Pridnestrovian Investment and Economic Forum has been launched today in the Dvorets Respubliki (State Cultural Center) in Tiraspol. The event was organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the PMR and the Ministry of Economic Development of the PMR, with the support of the Government of the PMR.
The opening ceremony is attended by representatives of the PMR Government, the Supreme Council, as well as the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the RF, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation, ambassadors and advisers from 12 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, the USA, France, UK and Germany. Among the participants there are representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Abkhazia, the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Commerce, the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the RM, the World Bank, as well as more than 25 organizations from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and other countries. In total, the Forum involved about 500 people, 64 of them are foreign countries.
During the official opening, First Deputy Chairman of the PMR Government Alevtina Slinchenko voiced the welcome address of Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Government Pavel Prokudin. In particular, the message of the head of the Government highlighted that Pridnestrovie has an important task today to reduce the degree of impact of the global economic crisis and the adaptation of the republic's economy to new economic conditions. As mentioned, attraction of foreign investments to the economy should help as well.
“I am confident that this forum will become a clear example of the openness of our economy for cooperation, improvement of the investment and business climate, deepening ties with foreign partners,” said Pavel Prokudin in his welcoming address.
In the course of the ceremony a welcome address of Ambassador of Russia in the Republic of Moldova was read by Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Vladimir Lapshin.
“The Russian Federation, for its part, is not only a reliable and responsible partner, but a friend of Pridnestrovie. We have never remained indifferent to its difficulties and successes, we have always been ready to back in addressing both economic and social problems in the interest of peace and stability in the region. We will remain this attitude,” noted the diplomat.
President of the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Commerce Mauro Salvatori, in his turn, invited from the forum rostrum Pridnestrovian entrepreneurs and industrialists to participate in the forum, which is organized by Chamber on June 29 in Milan. One of the languages of the forum will be Russian. According to Salvatori, this was done specifically to ensure that Pridnestrovian guests to feel comfortable there.
As part of the Investment and Economic Forum five discussion platforms have been organized, where topical economic issues and existing investment opportunities of Pridnestrovie are currently under discussion. In particular, there is a continued focus on prospects for development of foreign markets for exports of Pridnestrovian enterprises, reformation the tax system, modern technologies of attracting investments, improvement of business climate in the country and modernization of technical regulation system.
In the framework of the Forum there is also an exhibition “The economic potential of the cities and regions of Pridnestrovie”.
