The 24-th of December – Constitution Day of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic

Constitution Day is celebrated in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on December 24. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR receives congratulatory addresses on the occasion of the public holiday.



“The adoption of the Constitution in 1995 through a nationwide referendum was the most important stage in the development of Pridnestrovian statehood, the strengthening of civil peace and accord,” as said in the congratulatory address from Karen Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.



The head of the foreign service of Nagorno-Karabakh wished peace and prosperity to the brotherly people of Pridnestrovie, and also expressed the belief that the high level of bilateral relations between the PMR and the NKR will provide a solid basis for the further development and strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation for the good of the people.



For reference: the Constitution of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was adopted at the nationwide referendum on December 24, 1995 and was signed by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on January 17, 1996. Constitutional changes were made in 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2011. According to the Constitution, Pridnestrovie is a sovereign, independent, democratic state with the presidential system of government. The holder of sovereignty and the only source of power in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic shall be its people.
