Regarding the Meting of Expert (Working) Groups on Transport and Road Infrastructure Development

Today, office of the OSCE Mission in Kishinev hosted a regular meeting of expert (working) group on transport and road infrastructure development, the fifth one this year. Involved in the meeting were participants of the Permanent Consultations on Political Issues in the Framework of the Pridnestrovian Settlement Negotiation Process.

This meeting was agreed between the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan sides at the previous enlarged meeting of political representatives which took place on March 14, 2013, in Tiraspol.

On the sidelines of the meeting, its participants discussed a number of provisions of the draft Protocol Decision “On Some Primary Measures to Provide Freedom of Movement for Population of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova”, which has been dealt with since last summer.

In particular, the sides officially fixed a neutral design of the license plate to be issued in Pridnestrovie for the Pridnestrovian vehicles providing international cargo and passenger transportation. Description of such a license plate is reflected in the corresponding Protocol of the Meeting of March 14, 2013, which was finalized and signed by heads of groups today.

Also, the Pridnestrovian side once again asked representatives of the Republic of Moldova to provide the needed number of permits for Pridnestrovie to carry out passenger transportation on a temporary basis until final mechanism in this sphere is elaborated.

The sides discussed also other matters of common interest which should become part of the future agreement between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova about freedom of movement.
