Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev met with Italian entrepreneurs, representatives of the management of the Association Italy-BRICS Matteo Peggio and Igor Camilli. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Presidium of the Bendery City Council of People’s Deputies Yuri Kara.
Giving a welcoming speech, Vitaly Ignatiev noted the traditionally significant level of trade and industrial relations between Italy and Pridnestrovie. “Italy stably ranks fifth among the main trade and economic partners of the Republic. Besides, in 2016 an agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the PMR and the Italian-Moldovan Chamber of Commerce was signed,” the diplomat said.
During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the prospects for bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas. In particular, a substantial exchange of views took place regarding the possibility of implementing a number of joint projects in the field of economy and culture, as well as in the political, diplomatic and information spheres. The Head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized the interest of Pridnestrovie in active positive efforts of the Italian side on the track of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement in the context of Italy’s forthcoming OSCE chairmanship in 2018.
At the end of the meeting the parties agreed to continue their interaction in a number of practical areas of mutual interest.
