Today, this year's first meeting of the expert (working) groups on telecommunications and postal services, with the participation of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and Moldova took place in the office of the OSCE Mission in Kishinev.
The meeting discussed a wide range of issues related to the organization of telephone communication, the use of radio frequencies and television broadcasting between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. In order to determine a mutually acceptable practical settlement form of the existing problematic aspects, the sides exchanged concrete proposals on possible parameters of future decisions.
In addition, the heads of the relevant groups have put on record in the corresponding protocol agreement, reached at the previous meeting on 18 November 2014, which defines a mechanism for preventing possible interference when using radio frequencies in the 800 MHz range by telecommunication operators of Pridnestrovie and Moldova. According to the document, the parties will follow the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union on the territorial division of the work of the operators in the relevant frequency range.
Taking into account the agreement of the political representatives of the parties on the need to improve the dynamics of the meetings of industry groups, the experts in the field of telecommunications agreed to continue the working dialogue on all relevant issues of bilateral agenda with a focus on resolving existing problems in the field of fixed and mobile telephony.
