On March 3, Professor Owen Green, the Director of the Center on International Cooperation and Security of the Bradford University (The UK), paid a visit to Tiraspol. In the capital of Transdniestria the British scientist gave a lecture on international experience in the sphere of confidence-building measures arranged in the framework of the OSCE Mission project “Public Lectures”.
On the same day, Owen Green visited the Transdniestrian Foreign Department. In the PMR's Ministry of Foreign Affairs the British scientist met with Deputies Head of the Republic's MFA Sergey Simonenko and Alexander Maliarchuk.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current situation in the Moldova-Pridnestrovie peace process. In particular, the restart of the work of expert (working) groups of Moldova and Transdniestria was discussed. In the opinion of the British guest, their activity aimed to settle social and economic problems may play an important role in restoring the atmosphere of trust across the Dniester. The interlocutors also touched upon the matters concerning the political vector of the settlement.
Taking stock of the conversation, Owen Green expressed his appreciation to the PMR's MFA leadership for detailed information on the issues he was interested in.
