As it was reported earlier, the meeting between the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk and Prime-Minister of the RM Yuriy Lyanca was held today in Tiraspol. Briefing of the heads of Pridnestrovie and Moldova was held for representatives of mass media upon completion of the meeting.
Journalists were in particular interested in the problem of freedom of movement of Pridnestrovian citizens through the border between Pridnestrovie and Moldova caused by discrimination measures of official Kishinev. Yevgeny Shevchuk announced that Pridnestrovie opposes any kind of unilateral measures which bound movement of people. “It is necessary to minimize the procedures which complicate free movement of citizens,” the President noted. He is sure that such approach will promote the development of contacts between the people living in Pridnestrovie and Moldova and will favorably tell on the creation of atmosphere of confidence between the states. “At the moment movement of Pridnestrovian residents having Russian and Ukrainian citizenship through migration posts of the Republic of Moldova is, to put it mildly, hindered. This, without any doubt, arises anxiety. We will follow the implementation of intentions of our partners very attentively. We would not want the control procedures to impede the movement of the residents of Pridnestrovie in any way. Such policy is not constructive,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said. The head of state expressed hope that it would be possible to solve these problems without using mechanisms of administrative enforcement. “I have to say that in case it fails, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic reserves the right to consider proportional response measures in order to protect citizens living on the territory of Pridnestrovie,” the President said.
In his turn Yevgeny Shevchuk reported that the Pridnestrovian side is intended to modernize the activity of migration posts in order to achieve maximal simplification of the procedure of control over the movement of citizens through the border between Pridnestrovie and Moldova until the beginning of 2014.
