On June 22, 2011, on the Day of Memory and Sorrow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic Vladimir Yastrebchak participated in the flower-laying to the Eternal Flame at a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow, having paid the tribute to the memory of those who had fallen in the Great Patriotic War.

In his answer to journalists' questions, the head of the Pridnestrovien diplomacy emphasized that “today is a remarkable red-letter day in the shared history of the Russian Federation and Pridnestrovie.” “Living memory of this day is not only a tribute to the history or another formal action, but a clear indicator of shared ideals and principles. Russia and Pridnestrovie have shared heroic past, common present-day foundations and values – and so, a shared future,” Vladimir Yastrebchak said.
