The President of the PMR is sure that the idea of Eurasian integration is supported by 90% of the citizens. As reported by the President, the State itself is searching for the mechanisms of implementation of the national strategy in the field of external policy. “We would like both Pridnestrovie and Ukraine to move in one direction. There are many problems which did not find their solution: poverty, noncompetitiveness of the enterprises, their technological lagging. It is necessary to restore lost markets,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said. He also expressed the opinion that Eurasian integration will allow to achieve more stability for the life of Pridnestrovian citizens.
In his comment given to the representatives of the Media from Odessa the President of the PMR touched upon burning topic of the Ukrainian OSCE Chairmanship with which Pridnestrovie connects its' hopes. “Ukraine has all the resources to influence the situation in Pridnestrovie,” he noticed. Yevgeny Shevchuk reminded spectators from Odessa that there is no direct transport connection between the two countries; this is caused by lack of settlement of a number of issues. “The problems of people, but not political problems should be considered. We simplified the movement through the border of the PMR for Ukrainian citizens. We would like to see positive from the side of our neighbor,” the President of Pridnestrovie said. According to him, it is possible to solve the problem of movement of citizens through the mediation of Ukraine this year.
As reported earlier by official site of the President of the PMR, Head of State Yevgeny Shevchuk participated in the sitting of the roundtable “Economic Aspects of Strategic Choice of Ukraine in Interaction with Countries of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Community in the Framework of the Eurasian Economic Community” at the invitation of Ukrainian Choice all-Ukrainian Public Movement. On the outcomes of the roundtable Yevgeny Shevchuk gave comment to KTV Odessa Television Company.
According to the President, such events with the participation of public at large allow to “measure the temperature of the society”; this, in its' turn, should cause corresponding reaction from the side of bodies of power and administration. “Such roundtables are important for us in Pridnestrovie; the strategy of development of Ukraine, the Russian Federation, interaction in the field of economy and further more broad integration is defined here,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said.
