Evgeny Shevchuk: “Pridnestrovie and Moldova do not Have Objective Preconditions for Discussion of Political Issues”

During the briefing held upon the completion of the meeting between Yevgeny Shevchuk and Yuriy Lyanca Moldovan journalists asked the question about the prospects of discussion of the topic of the status of Pridnestrovie.

“It is naïve and unreal to expect the decision of all the problems during the first contact,” Prime-Minister of Moldova noted while answering the question. According to Moldovan politician, it is necessary to solve the problems which are reflected in agenda. He also added that it is necessary for the leadership of the sides “to get to know each other better and to understand each other.”

In his turn the President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk accented the attention on the presence of significant discords in the sphere of politics. According to his conviction, in order to discuss burning issue of such kind it is necessary “to elaborate corresponding constructive mechanisms forming mutual confidence of the sides” and, therefore, to search for compromises in the areas where there are objective preconditions for their finding. According to the head of the republic, such area is the area of socio-economical issues.

The President of the PMR expressed confidence: “It is the decision of socio-economical issues that will build the foundation for perspective discussion of political issues.”
