On April 28-29, 2012 within the framework of initiative of the Council of Europe “Sport instead of Drugs” the tag rugby championship, organized by the Council of Europe, Pridnestrovian and Moldavian sides, was held.
The opening of the tournament will take place on April 28, at 11 a.m. on Tiraspol city stadium, where the first series of games will be played. The second tour will be held in Kishinev on April 29. The final match will be held this autumn in Strasburg, France.
28 teams from Pridnestrovie and Moldova consisting of teenagers at the age of 16-17 will participate in competitions.
Tag rugby was deliberately chosen by the organizers of the event. It is simple contactless kind of rugby specially developed for children and teenagers in order to improve players' dexterity and attentiveness, allows to resolve one of major tasks of the championship – to attract teenagers to the world of sport.
The teams prepared for the tournament under the support of the tag rugby experts from Great Britain who will also provide competent and unbiased refereeing.
