On January 27, 2008, head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Philip Remler came to Rybnitsa to meet with the head of Rybnitsa city administration, Yuri Platonov. The reason for the meeting was the current situation around Romanian-language school Evrika. Deputy Foreign Minister of PMR Sergey Simonenko also took part in the meeting. The core of the problem is that currently the students of the Romanian-language school Evrika have their classes in a neighbouring school in the city. For this purpose, premises have been given to it in this school. The students cannot have classes in the school building proper due to the reluctance of the Romanian school administration to have sanitary documents issued for the school building with the local authorities. This situation has been going on for years, which causes concern of the Mission. During the meeting, Yuri Platonov explained that local authorities did not obstruct the activity of the school and issuing appropriate documents to it. This issue was artificially created by the school administration. Yuri Platonov pointed out that Ukrainian schools and branches of Russian universities also operate in Rybnitsa, all of them abiding the same regulations and satisfied with them.
During the meeting, Sergey Simonenko pointed out that there should be no reasons for politicizing the problems related to the formalities of economic activity of the school. During the dialogue, the sides agreed on the need to find ways to resolve this issue. At the same time, the city authorities of Rybnitsa expressed readiness to assist in every possible way in resolution of the existing problems in the framework of the Pridnestrovien laws in force.
