The President of the PMR held a working meeting in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office

As part of the visit of the Pridnestrovian delegation headed by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky to the United Kingdom, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office hosted a working meeting with Nicola Pollitt, Director of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the PMR’s Government Alexander Martynov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev.

The conversation touched upon a wide range of issues in the field of bilateral cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Great Britain. The parties exchanged their views regarding certain parameters for implementation of social and humanitarian and cultural projects on the territory of Pridnestrovie, including those implemented through the British Embassy.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the regional situation around Pridnestrovie in the context of the current state of relations between the PMR and neighboring states. Vadim Krasnoselsky detailed the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova, emphasized the most acute aspects existing in the relations of the parties. In this context, the head of the Pridnestrovian state drew attention of the British side to a wide range of unilateral restrictive actions taken against Pridnestrovie both by neighboring countries and by some other international partners.

During the discussion, British diplomats expressed support for the position of the PMR’s President on the need to resolve accumulated issues in relations of Pridnestrovie and Moldova exclusively at the negotiating table, and also supported resumption of the regular work of the international 5+2 negotiation format and the earliest meeting of the “Permanent Conference”.

At the end of the meeting, participants noted open and constructive nature of the conversation, and also expressed readiness to maintain further contacts.
