The PMR’s Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Vitaly Ignatiev, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR, and a delegation of UNDP in Moldova. The meeting was attended by representatives of the UNDP in Moldova: Doina Munteanu, Viorel Albu, Victor Munteanu, Victor Dragutan and Chairperson of the Coordination Council for Technical Assistance of the PMR Galina Sandutsa.
The sides discussed a number of topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including in areas which were touched upon at the meeting with Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minsiter Nina Shtanski with UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova Dafina Gercheva who visited Tiraspol on the 9th of April, 2015.
Vitaly Ignatyev said: Pridnestrovie’s cooperation with UNDP has a long history and continues to expand in a dynamic way. “In a difficult economic situation in the country the assistance through the United Nations Development Programmes is very relevant and needed for us. I believe that the projects that are already being implemented, have a serious potential for their further development,” - said the deputy minister.
Doina Munteanu, in her turn, noted that the second phase of the programme “Confidence-building measures between the two banks of the Dniester River” started. In the course of the project the restoration of the social infrastructure will continue. “We wanted to hold a meeting to discuss at a technical level in more detail all the elements of this programme, agree on all issues, to be able to fully begin the work,” - said the UNDP representative.
During the meeting the sides discussed topical areas of cooperation including along with projects to rebuild social infrastructure, strengthen and develop the health care system, develop and support businesses, also the deinstitutionalization of the trusteeship system and the promising field of using renewable energy sources.
