The President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk received a delegation of the Parliamentary Team on Moldova of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, headed by its Chairperson Arta Dade. An exchange of views took place on issues related to the negotiation process in the 5+2 format. The meeting was also attended by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev.
Welcoming representatives of the delegation, the President noted interest of the Pridnestrovian side in strengthening and developing cooperation with the OSCE structures. “This organization is an important co-mediator in the negotiation process and facilitates the formation of a negotiating platform. We stand for usage of all possible tools that would allow to achieve mutually beneficial agreements both for Pridnestrovie and Moldova without compulsion and in a constructive manner” – said Yevgeny Shevchuk. These are such areas as abandonment of politically motivated criminal cases, freedom of movement of citizens and freights, development of economy.
“We confirmed the previously announced approaches, which are to search for mutually acceptable solutions through negotiations. We also reaffirmed our commitment to the further implementation of the peacekeeping operation as one of the most important tools to ensure peace” – said Yevgeny Shevchuk on the results of the meeting.
In turn, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Team on Moldova of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly welcomed the continuation of the negotiations in the 5+2 format. “We support the negotiations under the 5+2 format. We hope the negotiations will be fruitful. – noted Arta Dade – Besides, we as members of the parliament would like to see cooperation between two legislative bodies. We came here for this purpose”.
At the end of the meeting the President expressed hope that the OSCE co-mediators would continue to assist the parties to the negotiations in searching for constructive mutually beneficial solutions. “We are ready for negotiations and hope to find answers to the questions, which are on the agenda of the negotiating platform” – said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
