The Foreign Ministry hosted the meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Dmitry Palamarchuk and Representative of the World Health Organization in Moldova Haris Hajrulahovic visited Pridnestrovie today for the first time since his appointment.
During the meeting, Dmitry Palamarchuk emphasized that the Pridnestrovian side attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the World Health Organization and appreciates the fact that it reached a qualitatively new level for the past few years.
“I am pleased to note that the interaction develops in the most sensitive and relevant for Pridnestrovie areas, including strengthening the perinatal care and maternal health, support for immunization processes, fighting with communicable and non-communicable diseases, training and development of skills of medical personnel,” said the Deputy Foreign Minister.
Dmitry Palamarchuk positively characterized the fact that when choosing areas of work the WHO is guided by “leadership priorities” of the organization and the needs of the health system of Pridnestrovie.
Haris Hayrulahovich, in his turn, highly appreciated the attention that the authorities of the republic pay to health care. “We will further try to develop the level of our cooperation and to intensify cooperation,” said the WHO Representative.
He also stressed that promoting the efficiency of the health system remains the priority of the organization activities. According to Haris Hayrulahovich, the WHO will continue to pay attention to such primary tasks as support for measures to combat and prevent HIV, AIDS and tuberculosis, as well as increasing the role of health care in the prevention of non-communicable diseases. Work will continue on important areas related to the support of perinatal centres in Pridnestrovie and the increase of the level of human capacity of medical institutions.
At the end of the meeting, Dmitry Palamarchuk expressed hope for further strengthening and expansion of constructive cooperation in order to maintain and improve the health of the population of Pridnestrovie.
