The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Special Representative Andrey Deshchitsa will pay visits to Pridnestrovie and Moldova on April 23-25, 2013.
On April 24 a.c. Ambassador Deshchitsa shall visit Rybnitsa city where he will be hosted by Deputy Chairperson of the Government on Issues of International Cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski and the Head of the Public Administration of Rybnitsa district and Rybnitsa city Tatyana Turanskaya.
The programme of the visit contains scheduled inspection of an aerial ropeway (funicular) across the Dniester River binding Moldavian place Rezina and Rybnitsa city. This facility was built in 1962 to supply Rybnitsa Cement-Slate Works with raw materials from quarries in Rezina city. The aerial ropeway has not been operated for many years.
Pridnestrovian side appealed in March 2012 to the participants of the negotiation process to seek funding for the dismantling of the funicular, since neither Pridnestrovie, nor the Republic of Moldova have necessary resources.
After inspection of the aerial ropeway a working meeting under participation of the Head of the Public Administration will be held at the Public Administration of Rybnitsa district and Rybnitsa city.
On the same day, the OSCE Office in Kishinev city will host a meeting between the political representatives of Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov in the “1+1” format with the participation of the OSCE. The meeting will be held at 4:30 pm upon an initiative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Special Representative.
It should be recalled that last meeting of political representatives with the participation of representatives of all parties to the “5+2” format was held on March 14, 2013 in Tiraspol and it was initiated by the Pridnestrovian side. Moldavian side has sent so far no counter-proposals to convene a meeting of the political representatives in Kishinev.
The meeting will be followed by press briefing at 5:30 pm on the proposal of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
