Today the International School of Journalism was opened in Tiraspol. This project is organized by the International News Agency "Russia Today" and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR with the support of the Administration of the President of Pridnestrovie. The opening of the School of the INA "Russia Today" was attended by Chairperson of the Supreme Soviet of the PMR Mikhail Burla, Chief of the Presidential Office of the PMR Nadezhda Baranova, Co-Chairperson of the Joint Control Commission from the Russian Federation Vasiliy Korchmar, acting Rector of T.G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University Vyacheslav Stepanov. The opening of the School was declared by the Head of country and integration processes department of the INA "Russia Today" Ella Taranova and Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR Igor Shornikov.
Participants of the International School of Journalism are young employees of leading media of Pridnestrovie, Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia. Lecturers are respected experts and specialists in the media field: political analyst Sergei Markedonov, political expert Vladimir Bruter, Doctor of Political Science Sergei Kizima, Head of "Russia Today" branch in Armenia Konstantin Petrosov, Head of "Russia Today" representative office in Moldova Vladimir Novosadyuk and others.
Opening the event, Igor Shornikov noted that information in recent years had become an effective instrument of international and domestic policy. The diplomat stressed that free access to objective and properly supplied information is the key to stability and sustainable development of society. "Without strong information support we cannot achieve the goals placed by the people of Pridnestrovie. International School of Journalism is an important step towards building an effective system for informing the international community about the position of Pridnestrovie ", - concluded the deputy minister.
In her speech Nadezhda Baranova noted that the International School of Journalism will provide an opportunity for young professionals to take an active part in discussions on global issues in the field of information technology, to exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries, get advice on topical issues with experts. Nadezhda Baranova also read the welcome address of the PMR's President Yevgeny Shevchuk. In particular, it states that the International School of Journalism is a "unique platform that allows young journalists from CIS countries to find common ground in their difficult work, giving them the opportunity to get essential professional experience, which will help them to become a high-class professionals in the future, to occupy rightful place in the journalistic community of the near abroad".
A welcome address on behalf of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova Farit Mukhametshin was voiced to the School participants by Co-Chairperson of the Joint Control Commission from the Russian Federation Vasiliy Korchmar. "International School opens new opportunities for professional growth of young journalists, exchange of experience and information. Young professionals in the course of lectures will get new knowledge about modern information technologies, European and Eurasian integration processes "- the message says.
Mikhail Burla, in his turn, addressing the audience, said that the media is a corrective tool that is able to highlight the incorrect ways of the state development. In addition, the Chairperson of the Supreme Soviet noted that "for Pridnestrovie media play an invaluable role in distribution of information about the country abroad."
The Head of the International School of Journalism by INA "Russia Today" Ella Taranova focused attention on the fact that for the past 10 years the Schools of Journalism had operated in different neighbouring countries and beyond, thereby creating a pool of pro-Russian journalists who not only get professional skills, but also feel more positive towards Russia. However, as stressed Ella Taranova, in Pridnestrovie there is no need to create a pro-Russian sentiment, here it is strong enough, so "I want to do something useful for the Republic." In particular, "it is the media who can do a lot for Pridnestrovie not to feel far away from Russia", - stated Ella Taranova.
The work of the School of Journalism will last until July 25. On completion of the course every participant will be handed a training certificate.
