A working session concerning discussion on implementation plan of “Path of Peace” humanitarian project was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR. The session was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR on Issues of International Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski, Deputy Minister Igor Shornikov, ministers, heads of state services and public administrations of Tiraspol, Bendery and Slobodzeya, as well as representatives of Pridnestrovian higher educational institutions and construction contractors.
The “Path of Peace” Project is aimed at the support and promotion of the high-valued peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation on the banks of the river Dniester, as well as at building positive image of Pridnestrovie.
The central event of the project should be building of the Arch of Peace “Blessed are the Peacemakers”. According to the concept of professor Irina Umnova, the ideological mastermind of the “Path of Peace” and the Head of the “Law of Peace” Centre Archs of Peace are built in those places across the CIS-space where terrorist acts or armed conflicts took place at different times paving in such manner a symbolic the “Path of Peace”.
The “Path of Peace” has already passed through following Russian cities: Rostov-on-Don, Vladikavkaz, Beslan, Nalchik, Stavropol, Budennovsk, Volgograd and the Ukrainian city Melitopol. According to moderators, opening of the Arch of Peace in Pridnestrovie should be a symbol of lasting peace atmosphere and stability in Pridnestrovie brought by Russian peacekeepers on Dniester. This event will be followed by diverse cultural and mass events aimed at the attraction of youth's attention to the concept of maintenance of peace on the Earth and at promotion of multinational culture of Pridnestrovie.
Participants of the meeting discussed a number of arrangements and outlined prospective fields of work.
