Vitaly Ignatiev: Ukraine supports nationals in Pridnestrovie

Today festive occasion devoted to the 5-th anniversary of the opening of the Centre for Ukrainian Culture (CUK) took place at T. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov and Rector of T. G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University Stepan Beril arrived to congratulate the members of the Centre on the anniversary. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev also participated in the event.



Activity of the Centre for Ukrainian Culture at T. G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University during 5 years resulted in structural corporation of education institutions around Pridnestrovie with Ukrainian as a language of instruction, i. e. “Dzherela” Ukrainian Republican Theoretical Lyceum-Complex, Ukrainian Theoretical Lyceum of Tiraspol city, I. Kotlyarevsky Gymnasium No. 3 of Bendery city, Ukrainian secondary general education school No. 1 of Rybnitsa city. Sergey Pirozhkov noting the importance of the Centre activity said that opportunities “to get acquainted with Ukrainian culture, literature, and spirituality” have been provided nowadays in Pridnestrovie. The Ambassador of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the organizers who had taken part in the establishment and operation of the Centre, and presented employees who had made a significant contribution to the development of the Pridnestrovian -Ukrainian cooperation with certificates of appreciation.



Vitaly Ignatiev emphasised in his speech inextricable connection between Pridnestrovie and Ukraine. The Pridnestrovian diplomat, “Pridnestrovie and Ukraine have been for centuries consolidated by strong historical, economic, humanitarian, and cultural ties. They are based on human relationships, vital needs of the people, their interests, spiritual attraction to their roots.” He underlined, “About 150,000 ethnic Ukrainians honour their roots and support the living breath of Ukraine in our republic through the development of culture, use of native language and conservation of traditions.”



Vitaly Ignatiev said that the success of the Centre became possible also thanks to the direct support of Ukraine. During his speech the diplomat mentioned also the importance of consolidation of efforts concerning enforcement of confidence between the brotherly peoples of Pridnestrovie and Ukraine, stressing relevance of expanding the scope of bilateral contacts at the national level.



At the end of the event Vitaly Ignatiev presented a congratulatory address on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic and wished the Centre successful development of new areas of practical cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Ukraine.
