The meeting between Acting Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Gubarev took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The interlocutors discussed the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The head of the Foreign Ministry of the PMR drew the attention of the Russian diplomat to the fact that Moldova’s readiness previously announced at this year's first meeting of representatives on political issues for direct and systematic cooperation with the Pridnestrovian side has not been practically implemented at the present time. Vitaly Ignatiev said that the Moldovan side actually continues to evade the substantive dialogue at the level of expert (working) groups.
The sides exchanged views on a number of problematic issues in bilateral relations of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, including in the area of politically motivated prosecutions of citizens of Pridnestrovie by Moldova, transport, and rail freight transportation through the territory of the republic. Special attention was given to the intention of Moldova and Ukraine to establish a joint customs and border control on the Pridnestrovian border at the checkpoint “Kuchurgan”. Vitaly Ignatiev noted that these plans of neighbouring states have significant destructive potential that threatens not only with the strengthening of the blockade and restrictive measures against Pridnestrovie in the economic sphere, but also the prospects for political dialogue in general.
At the end of the meeting the sides highly appreciated the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation of Pridnestrovie with the Russian Federation and outlined plans for future cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
