Visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden in the RM to Pridnestrovie is study in nature. Signe Burgstaller came into office on September 23 this year, succeeding Ingrid Tersman.
During the meeting the sides discussed socio-economic situation in the country. In particular, the head of state spoke about the current situation in the Pridnestrovian economy and additional negative challenges for local exporting companies, which may arise from 1 January 2016 as a result of the Association Agreement with the European Union signed by Moldova. In this regard, Yevgeny Shevchuk stressed that Pridnestrovie is in constant contact with European colleagues on the development of an optimal mechanism for the trade of Pridnestrovie with the EU.
In addition, the meeting touched upon the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement issue. The President told about the current problematic aspects in the negotiation process, in particular, politically motivated criminal cases initiated by the Moldovan authorities against officials and entrepreneurs of Pridnestrovie.
President Yevgeny Shevchuk also discussed with Signe Burgstaller prospects of bilateral cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Sweden in the cultural and humanitarian spheres in the context of the existing experience of constructive cooperation in these areas.
