President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk and Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Gubarev held a meeting in the capital of the Russian Federation. They discussed issues related to the situation in the negotiation process. We remind that the official meetings in the “5+2” format have not been conducted for almost one and a half year. Pause in holding meetings in the framework of the “Permanent Conference...” is related to the worsening of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, first of all, because the Republic of Moldova imposed unilaterally a number of restrictive measures. In particular, this is about politically motivated criminal cases against officials initiated by the RM, economic agents of the PMR, as well as about the restriction of freedom of movement of Pridnestrovians, including the deportation of guests of the republic and citizens of Pridnestrovie from the airport in Kishinev.
Yevgeny Shevchuk and Sergey Gubarev discussed the prospects for the resumption of negotiations in the “5+2” under the current socio-economic situation in Pridnestrovie and the progressive influence of external negative factors.
