The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of Acting Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev with Head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the RM Traian Turcanu.
Welcoming the guest, Vitaly Ignatiev said that cooperation with the United Nations is one of the priorities for the Pridnestrovian side. “We have experience of working with bodies such as the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, contacts are established with the International Organization for Migration, there is long experience of cooperation with the World Health Organization,” - stated the diplomat.
The sides exchanged views on international practices in the field of ensuring the rights of refugees. Traian Turcanu informed of main activities of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Vitaly Ignatiev, in his turn, highlighted the features of the current situation in the protection of the rights of this category of persons in Pridnestrovie, as well as emphasized the existing legal framework of the republic in this area.
The sides agreed to continue contacts in areas of mutual interest.
