The sides continued to work on the harmonization of the document regulating the interaction of the OSCE Mission and Pridnestrovie
Today the meeting of Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Minister for Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski with Director of the Conflict Prevention Centre, Deputy Head of the OSCE Secretariat Adam Kobieracki took place in the Foreign Ministry of Pridnestrovie. OSCE Mission representatives in Moldova also participated in the meeting.
The sides continued to work on the harmonization of the document regulating the interaction of the OSCE Mission and Pridnestrovie. We remind the proposal for revision of the current arrangement was made by Pridnestrovie as early as in 2011. The principled position on the need for meaningful consultation on updating the arrangements was voiced by the PMR’s President at a meeting with the leadership of the OSCE Mission to Moldova in March 2013. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR was entrusted with the task of continuing and intensifying the work on a new agreement on the activities of the OSCE Mission in Pridnestrovie. In 2014, the sides began to negotiate.
Nina Shtanski highly appreciated the dynamics of communication and the current state of negotiations with the OSCE on the new agreement. According to her, during the seven meetings on the matter (Note: The latest meeting took place on February 18), the sides managed to bring closer the positions on most aspects of the future document. “Compromises and wordings have been found and thus a number of minor comments and issues remain, which we hope to discuss today,” the diplomat said.
During the discussion, the sides managed to come close to the harmonization of the final text of the document. The two sides agreed to hold additional consultations on a number of controversial aspects of the agreement soon with a view to working out a final version of the Agreement.
