The meeting of the expert (working) groups on the development of transport and road facilities with the participation of representatives on political issues of the parties managed to agree on 5 of 7 points of the draft outcome document preliminarily

Today, the Tiraspol office of the OSCE Mission in Moldova hosted a meeting of expert (working) groups on the development of transport and road facilities which was joined by representatives on political issues of Pridnestrovie and Moldova Nina Shtanski and Viktor Osipov. The central issue on the agenda was the draft Protocol Decision proposed by the Pridnestrovian side on the mechanism of cooperation of insurance entities of the Republic of Moldova and Pridnestrovie under civil liability insurance contracts.

As the Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski said during the briefing following the results of the meetings, the experts together with political representatives of the parties found the wording on the most contentious and controversial aspects of the proposed document as a result of which they managed to reach intermediate agreements on the draft Protocol Decision.

Specifying the content of the draft document, the foreign minister said that its aim was to enshrine such a mechanism under which the interests of owners of vehicles registered in Pridnestrovie, with liability insurance policies, and the owners of the Moldovan insurance would be taken into account equally without discrimination. The compromise is based on the principle of mutual respect of interests of the parties.

“The main task faced by the experts and political representatives was to find a mechanism for mutual recognition of insurance policies firstly in order to eliminate the double burdening the car owners of Moldova and Pridnestrovie with insurance policies of the parties and secondly, to protect the interests and rights of car owners from Pridnestrovie who acquired insurance policies in Moldova,” - said the diplomat.

According to Nina Shtanski, 5 of 7 points, contained in the draft document, on the mechanism of cooperation between the insurance entities in Pridnestrovie and Moldova   have been completely agreed preliminarily.

By prior arrangement, the next meeting in the same format will be held tomorrow, on April 7 at Kishinev office of the OSCE Mission at 15:00.
