President Yevgeny Shevchuk met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova Rimantas Latakas. Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski also participated in the meeting.
This is the first visit of Rimantas Latakas to Pridnestrovie, the purpose of which is to survey the current situation in the republic.
During the meeting the president told the foreign diplomat about the state of the economy and the situation in the social sphere of the republic. The sides discussed issues related to the development of cooperation between the two countries. The dialogue was also focused on topical issues of the settlement of the Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations. “In Pridnestrovie we do our best to preserve peace. We proceed from the need to build good-neighbourly relations with Moldova, we participate in negotiations. Potential of the latter is seriously limited by the pressure made by our Moldovan partners”, - said the President.
