The meeting between the Council of Young Diplomats of the MFA of Pridnestrovie and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Farit Mukhametshin took place in the PMR’s MFA today.
The Head of the Embassy delivered a welcome speech, during which he congratulated the young diplomats on the upcoming professional holiday – the Diplomat’s Day. Farit Mukhametshin said that close trust-based contacts established between the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the RM and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR allowed to solve many issues.
During his speech, Farit Mukhametshin noted the main priorities of the Russian foreign policy at the present stage, highlighted Russia's position on several issues of international relations.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the interaction between Pridnestrovie and Russia. According to the Ambassador, information contradicting the reality has widely been disseminated in a number of Russian media recently - that allegedly “the republic may become a subject of geopolitical bargaining” and “Russia will refuse Pridnestrovie”. He reminded that Russia has the status of a guarantor and mediator in the negotiation process and will never refuse its responsibility, including the intention to protect its state interests. The Head of the Embassy of Russia turned attention to the institutional support of the interaction of the Russian Federation with Pridnestrovie, noting that it is carried out at the level of the Special Representative of the President of Russia on Pridnestrovie, as well as Ambassador -at- Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Ambassador paid special attention to the issues of inviolability of the current peacekeeping format, expanded consular services, as well as interagency cooperation between Russia and Pridnestrovie.
The young diplomats were interested in the development of bilateral projects under the Rossotrudnichestvo and in the field of public diplomacy. Farit Mukhametshin informed of the readiness to assist in the development of contacts in those areas.
At the end of the meeting Farit Mukhametshin handed members of the Council of Young Diplomats valuable literature.
