Press Service of the PMR\'s MFA additionally clarifies the procedure of crossing the border of Pridnestrovie by diplomatic agents

Due to the increasing amount of requests from representative offices of international organizations and foreign states, including the United States, on providing the entry of diplomatic agents in Pridnestrovie the Press Service of the PMR\'s MFA additionally clarifies the procedure of crossing the state border of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.In accordance with the current legislation of Pridnestrovie diplomatic agents cross the state border of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic by vehicles with diplomatic car plates, as well as other types of transport means, through the international checkpoints upon presentation of a document certifying the person identification and appropriate diplomatic status. The necessary requirement of crossing the state border of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic by diplomatic representatives for transit, private or business purposes, is an advance notification of the PMR\'s MFA indicating the true purposes of the visit.In this regard, it should be noted that, that on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 are recognized framework legal norms. Adherence of Pridnestrovie to the aforementioned Conventions imposes on the Pridnestrovian side a certain set of obligations to comply the diplomatic and consular immunities and privileges, as well as secure the diplomats residing on the territory of the republic.In this context, considering the unsettled Moldo-Pridnestrovian conflict, the Law of the PMR of 12 June, 2009 No. 774-З-IV «On Some Peculiarities of Crossing the State Border of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic by Persons Enjoying Consular and Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges", which fixed such requirements to entry, as the advance notification about the visit and purposes of the visit, is urged to promote the implementation of the international obligations undertaken unilaterally by Pridnestrovie.At the same time we cannot but highlight that since the adoption of the law there has been taken a number of measures aimed at the optimization of the order of border crossing by diplomats. Thus, the time of giving notice of the forthcoming border crossing was reduced, which, moreover, were differentiated in cases of transit through the republic.For information of representative offices of international organizations and foreign states, the Press Service of the PMR\'s MFA adds that in case of visiting the republic by foreign nationals - diplomats on their own initiative within the private visit and by private vehicles without notifying the PMR\'s MFA they have equal procedures with other foreign nationals for crossing the border in accordance with general practices by presenting valid identification documents (passports).Pridnestrovie is aimed at expanding and strengthening external relations, open for the international community and welcomes visiting the republic by foreign guests abiding the established requirements.It is worthy of note that Pridnestrovie today continues working on the modernization of the international check points, develops and implements mechanisms to simplify the rules of entry for individuals, the movement of goods, which takes time, organizational efforts, as well as the additional logistical support.
