Today, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister of the PMR Nina Shtanski gave an interview to the Euronews TV Channel. The journalists were particularly interested in the current situation in the relationships of Pridnestrovie with Moldova and Ukraine, as well as within the context of the upcoming signing the EU Association Agreement with the RM and blockade measures taken on the part of the Ukrainian authorities concerning freedom of movement of Pridnestrovie's people.
Nina Shtanski notes that at this stage the republic is “between hammer and anvil”, as Ukraine is the only transport corridor through which trade relations with Russia and other countries are conducted. “We are not tired to ask our Ukrainian colleagues for lifting the blockade. Not only welfare of the enterprises located in Pridnestrovie including business as a whole depends on it, but the wellbeing of Ukrainians, nearly one third of which are here, ” – said the Minister.
Answering the question on the forthcoming signing the EU Association Agreement with the Republic of Moldova, Nina Shtanski pointed out that such step under conditions of disregarding for Pridnestrovie's opinion and position is untimely and irresponsible owing to the fact that the conflict between Pridnestrovie and Moldova is not yet settled, as well as owing to the losses that the industry of the PMR will incurs, as possible industrial decline is forecasted to be up to 60%. “This Agreement is not economic, but political. If it was economic, it would take into account the interests of Pridnestrovie. There is no any paragraph related to the interests of our republic in the agreement,” – concluded the Diplomat.
