The OSCE Office in Tiraspol hosted a meeting of expert (working) groups on education issues of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
The meeting participants discussed the legalization of Pridnestrovian educational certificates, as well as possible ways to solve the problems faced by final-year students of the PMR's educational institutions. The Pridnestrovian side gave concrete examples of refusals to legalize Pridnestrovian diplomas by the Moldovan side. Such refusals violate fundamental rights of citizens to education, as well as abroad.
It is regrettable that Kishinev continues to appeal uncompromisingly to enforcement of the RM's laws without proposing any mutually acceptable solutions to the current situation, thereby ignoring the legitimate rights of Pridnestrovian citizens.
We believe that it is important to draw attention of the Moldovan side to the fact that such position may essentially complicate the future work of the relevant groups on education issues, as well as narrow prospects of solving a whole range of topical issues on education area.
During the meeting the parties discussed issues on the schools with Romanian as a language of tuition functioning in Pridnestrovie. The experts managed to agree a mechanism for legal use the funds seized from the administration of the Non-Government Educational Institution “L. Blaga Theoretical Lyceum” when attempting to take illegally in the territory of Pridnestrovie. Particularly, the need for a purpose-oriented use of these funds through providing relevant supporting accounting documentation was provided for.
At the same time, in the elaboration of the agreement which had been reached between the representatives on political issues of Pridnestrovie and Moldova on April 1 a.c., the Pridnestrovian side in conformity with the relevant document passed to the Moldovan side the seal of the Non-Government Educational Institution “L. Blaga Theoretical Lyceum”.
