On March 21, 2014 the OSCE Office in Kishinev hosted a meeting of the Expert (Working) Groups on Issues of Regulatory and Document Support of Citizens of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
During the meeting the sides discussed a number of topical issues related to interests of Pridnestrovian and Moldovan citizens, problems of documentation of the population, exchanging information between archive institutions and civil registry bodies.
At the Pridnestrovian's initiative the sides had a substantive discussion concerning the refusal of relevant authorities of RM to issue passports for stateless persons for Pridnestrovian residents, requiring them to accept the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova. Within the framework of the discussion on this issue the Moldovan side agreed to consider a Pridnestrovian's proposal on the need to elaborate a simplified form of renunciation of RM's citizenship for residents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, who do not identify themselves as citizens of Moldova.
At the same time, the experts of both sides discussed an issue on mutual recognition of custody and guardianship documents, registrar\'s certificates, and vital records. The Pridnestrovian side paid a particular attention to the necessity to revoke an address earlier sent by the Ministry of Justice of the RM to relevant bodies of the CIS countries which excludes the territorial governments of the Civil Registry Office of Pridnestrovie from the list of institutions empowered to participate directly in legal assistance in civil registry.
