In the course of the meeting between representatives on political issues in the negotiation process Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov held today in Tiraspol, the Moldovan side provided information on the implementation of agreements previously reached on cancellation of import excise and environmental tax for Pridnestrovian enterprises. We remind that agreement on initiation by the Moldovan side of the cancellation of import excise for the goods imported by Pridnestrovian business entities within a period of one month was reached during the meeting of expert (working) groups of Pridnestrovie and Moldova on economy held on February 19, 2014 in Kishinev in the presence of representatives on political issues in the negotiation process Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov, as well as representatives of the 5+2 format participants, and was documented in the protocol (See The Moldovan side initiates cancellation of import excise for the goods imported by Pridnestrovian business entities within a period of one month). Today, the Moldovan side informed that the law on cancellation of excise had not been submitted to the Moldovan Parliament yet. This fact raised concern of the political representative of Pridnestrovie. Nina Shtanski emphasized the necessity to find an early solution to the issue which, in turn, according to her, will influence the background for further discussion between the sides. Yevgeny Karpov assured the Pridnestrovian representative on political issues that the corresponding law will be enacted at the session of the RM's government on March 19 a.c. and will be submitted to the Parliament of Moldova. Besides, according to the assurances of the Moldovan diplomat, appropriate consultations were held with members of the Parliament. The Pridnestrovian political representative is looking forward to obtaining more specific information during the meeting scheduled for March 21.
Moreover, in the course of the meeting the Pridnestrovian side did not receive any clarifications on the proposals made by the Moldovan side regarding cancellation of environmental tax, despite the fact that during the Vienna round of negotiations the Moldovan political representative voiced information that the solution to the issue is “… one hundred steps away”. The only thing responding to the Pridnestrovian side's enquiry on this issue was that this matter was being considered and that the solution was “some steps closer”. The Pridnestrovian side expectsthat this issue will be the subject of further discussions between the political representatives.
