Today, an opening ceremony of ANO “Dniester-Prut Centre of the RISS” (DPC of RISS) took place in T.G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University with the participation of the PMR's President Yevgeny Shevchuk and the Director of the Russian Institute of Strategic Research (RISS) Leonid Reshetnikov. Numerous guests of the Republic participated in the opening ceremony: the Bashkan of Gagauzia Mikhail Formuzal, Chairman of the movement “The United Gagauzia” Fedor Gagauz, Chairman of the public movement “Homeland – the Eurasian Union” Igor Tuliantsev, Chairman of the youth movement “Ileri” Nina Dimoglo, and representatives of the Serbian public organization “Our Serbia” Mlajan Georgevich and Nikola Kosovich. The event was also attended by the Pridnestrovian representatives: Chairman of the Government of the PMR Tatiana Turanskaya, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski, Defence Minister Alexander Lukyanenko, Deputy Foreign Minister Vitaliy Ignatiev, Rector of the Pridnestrovian State University Stepan Beril, first pro-rector Natalia Nikiforova.
Yevgeny Shevchuk welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the opening of the Information Centre of the RISS in Pridnestrovie. “The Centre will focus on researches and provide assistance in the elaboration of recommendations on some vital issues for the development of Pridnestrovie,” – explained the President. He also noted that this step is strengthening of the scientific basis of the Republic in general, since a new opportunity to be in contact with Russia's well-established research centers emerges on the basis of the Pridnestrovian University. He concluded by thanking the Russian guests for their work that had been done for the opening of the Information Centre of the RISS in Pridnestrovie, and expressed hope for the constructive cooperation.
Leonid Reshetnikov assured that within the walls of the Centre the results-oriented research work will be performed. “I hope that the Pridnestrovian expert community which we will build on, will make a contribution in the development of important issues faced by the Russian Federation in this region, in Europe, and in the world in general,”- said the director of the RISS. Leonid Reshetnikov also expressed gratitude to the PMR's President Yevgeny Shevchuk and to the Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski for support of the Russian side's initiative and for the assistance in the opening of the Information Centre of the RISS in Pridnestrovie.
After the official ceremony, the consecration of the Centre building was accomplished by Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary.
