Today, Foreign Ministry of Pridnestrovie hosted the meeting with the European Union delegation. Pridnestrovian side was represented by Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for Economic Development and Finances, Minister for Economic Development Maiya Parnas, Deputy Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and Vice-Chairperson of the State Customs Committee of the PMR Boris Panko. The European Union delegation consisted of Chief Negotiator for DCFTA from the European Commission Luc Devigne, Head of Political and Economic Section of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova Wicher Slagter, and Political Advisor in the European Eternal Action Service Remi Duflot.
In the course of the meeting, Pridnestrovian side outlined its position on the risks, challenges and threats related to the forthcoming initialling by Moldova of the DCFTA Agreement with the European Union at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, as well as on the lack of an effective mechanism for Pridnestrovie's participation in the discussions of draft agreement. Representatives of the Ministry for Economic Development and State Customs Committee voiced their alarming forecast estimates. European colleagues treated with understanding negative aspects of its signature set forth by the Pridnestrovian side.
Furthermore, in the course of the dialogue the Pridnestrovian side reiterated proposal voiced by President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk on elaboration of the transparent formula of interaction between Pridnestrovie and the European Union that could be reflected in a special bilateral agreement. We remind that this idea was expressed by the Head of the State at the Bavarian conference in Landshut.
Following the results of today's meeting, the parties agreed to continue bilateral consultations.
