On the Meeting of Expert (Working) Groups on Issues of Health Care
Today, the OSCE Office in Kishinev hosted regular meeting of Expert (Working) Groups on Issues of Health Care from Republic of Moldova and Pridnestrovie. The meeting was attended by representatives of parties, the Russian Federation, the OSCE and the EU. 
 
At the beginning of the meeting parties signed Protocol of previous meeting which was held on September 5, 2013. The Protocol reaffirms obligation of Moldovan side to render emergency medical services through AVIASAN and hi-tech medical assistance in specialized health care facilities in Kishinev with drafting relevant contracts without guarantee letters to patients from Pridnestrovie. Moldovan side delivered that leadership of the Ministry of Health Care of the RM would hold a meeting with managers of republican specialized facilities in order to prevent refusal of emergency care to patients from Pridnestrovie.
 
The Protocol stipulates also consent of parties regarding free treatment of oncological patients under the age of 18 and free emergency care of adults from Pridnestrovie with Moldovan nationality regardless submission of policy of obligatory medical insurance. Moldova and Pridnestrovie agreed that genetic and congenital defect examination of children residing in Pridnestrovie, as well as number of other check-ups will be free if presenting appointment card issued in Pridnestrovie. Today, during the meeting participants also discussed prospective implementation of several ambitious projects funded by international organizations (first of all, by the World Health Organization and UN family) in Pridnestrovie. These are projects in prenatal care, TB control, staff training, vaccination supply and development of health care infrastructure. Several practical steps were outlined in order to implement these projects within direct interaction of international donors with the Ministry of Health Care of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The meeting covered also issue of integrated report on health indicators of Pridnestrovian population to the World Health Organization. The Head of the Expert Group from Pridnestrovie, Minister of Health Care of the PMR Tatyana Skrypnik expressed willingness of Pridnestrovie to submit said statistics in the framework of unified requirements directly to the WHO Office in Copenhagen.
 
The parties discussed a number of other practical issues of mutual interest, including the possibility of professional development for Pridnestrovian medical personnel in Moldovan educational institutions.
